#WriteFree365 – Day 191: Run [I’m a Natural Disaster]

(I didn’t feel like writing today until I started at the blank tablet.  Day 191…)

You can’t win, child.  We’ve all tried, too.  You’ve been lied to.  It’s already inside you.  Either run right now, or you best get ready to die..

Do you feel those tremors beneath your feet?
The sky darkens from my shadow
The hero you may see in me is asking you to save yourself

I have typhoons in my I love yous
Get close enough to them and be swept off your feet
As thrilling as the ride may be
You’ll never know when the wind will die
And I drop you
Leaving that home of a heart in ruin

Now is not the time to gaze into my eyes
My heartbeat causes fissures in your soul
Stand too close to me
And catastrophe will swallow you whole.

Too late..

#WriteFree365 – Day 103: Smiley Faces

(I almost missed writing.  I forgot to post to this site because of Game of Thrones.  Television, the ultimate distraction.  Day 103…)

I want to be you whenever I see you smiling, because it’s easily one of the hardest things to do…

It takes more muscles to frown than to smile.
It depends on which muscles we’re counting
The weight in the chest makes lifting burdens with cheeks much harder than letting them hang.

If you are able to smile
Really smile
With all that wants to hold you down
Then you are stronger than you believe.

(Cee-Lo Green is one of the best songwriters in history.  I suggest listening to both Gnarls Barkley albums.  They’ll definitely make you think.  Day 96…)

I think I can help, but I can’t help myself…

Help your fellow man
It’s a law of morality embedded in most of us since birth.
Some help others only when it helps themselves
But what about me, who helps others
But can’t help myself?

I see the problems in others so well because my problems look similar
Not quite identical
More like distant cousins with a unique trait
We all struggle to fix our own spirits

So I’ve tried to donate time and love and hope as much as I can
In hopes of writing off the debts in my soul.
Because when the time comes to pay,
I won’t have enough.

(I almost gave in to not writing today.  But this is about discipline.  Write, no matter what.)

The title track to one of my ten favorite albums ever.

Where do you go when every door is locked?
When the key to home no longer fits
The windows cackle at your desperation
The porch light tells you you’re unwelcome in Morse code.
Take all that you own.
And go where your sanity can bounce peacefully off the walls in your mind
Wrap yourself in your own delirium
And breathe.
Home is too comfortable to be home.
